Ajay founded Lapis in 1987 and over the years has developed the business from its foundations as a trader of granite slabs and blocks between China and India, to its current incarnation trading and manufacturing natural and artificial stone products around the world whilst also diversifying into a range of other building materials. Ajay spent the first part of his life in Mumbai before moving to Hong Kong as a young man and starting his life as an independent entrepreneur.

Ajay studied commerce at university in Mumbai and continues to be involved with a number of charities in the state of Maharashtra. He has always played sport and loves to exercise every day whether in the gym, the pool or on the golf course.
